Janet Betchkal, MD

Dr. Janet Betchkal brings over three decades of experience and leadership to Bowden Eye & Associates. After completing her Glaucoma Fellowship in 1989, she spent eight years on faculty at the University of Florida Health, where she served as Associate Chairman for the Department of Ophthalmology at UF, Jacksonville. For the past 20+ years, Dr. Betchkal has been in private practice based in the Riverside area of Jacksonville focusing exclusively on glaucoma care.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Betchkal is an esteemed leader in the ophthalmology community. She was a founding Board member of the Vision is Priceless (VIP) Council, on which she served for many years, including a two years term of Chairman. She has served on the Board of Directors and is a Past-President of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology. She also served on the Secretariat for State Affairs (SSA) Committee for seven years, as well as the on the OPHTHPAC Committee for six years, for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In 2015, she was honored with the John R. Brayton, Jr., MD, Annual Leadership Award, recognizing her exemplary dedication and impact on the field.
